Archeology Themed Party

CHILDREN'S THEMED MINI DIG PARTIES

Combine an exciting mini dig with different party themes. The children can dig for treasure, gems, gold coins, dinosaurs and fossils as well as a few unidentified bones (be them pirate, dinosaur or a long lost adventurer).

Each session can include fun party games and a themed obstacle course (if room).

YOUNG ARCHAEOLOGISTS' PARTY - Age range 5 to 12 yrs.

Children can excavate a mini-dig tray from various time periods (see link to Archaeology Mini Digs and Topic Specific Mini Digs for more info). Using real archaeological tools children can excavate prehistoric fossils and flint tools, Egyptian, Roman, Viking, Tudor, Medieval and Victorian/WW2/Modern artefacts.

Louise will help the children to fill in a 'Finds Sheet' and ask the children to help identify the artefacts. The children can then put their artefacts into a historical timeline.

Various pre-historic and historic plaster cast models (fossils, dinosaurs, mummies etc.) make great take home gifts.

MAKE YOUR WAY THROUGH THE SNAKE INFESTED TUNNEL AND ENTER THE SKULL TENT OF TERROR

Make your way through obstacles filled with strange objects, appease the guarding gods, step on the plank to cross the crocodile infested swamp whilst the local natives throw rocks at you, wriggle through the snake infested pit, make your way over sinking sand and dodge the poison darts, search for skulls and then out run the big boulder.

Depending on the location you are trying to recreate…make some bamboo structures. PVC piping is great for so many purposes - and it's especially useful being WHITE (you can paint it easily and cheaply)! Cut the poles your desired lengths, then paint them a yellowish tan. Once dry, about every foot or so, paint a half-centimeter wide black band around the pole to simulate the sections of the bamboo. To give more depth to the bands, paint a thin, light brown stripe right above and below the black lines (touching them.) For poles, cut the tips off at an angle to simulate spikes. If building structures with them, you can purchase joints in any size and angle needed from your local plumbing supply/super hardware store. You can also purchase some rough twine at the hardware store and tie the poles together (holes can be drilled into the poles where needed to thread the twine for added support.) If using the joints, you can also use the twine around them to simulate the look that the TWINE is holding the bamboo together rather than the joints...
